The Quin Womxn are the longest standing women’s rugby club in DFW. Our 15s rugby season runs from fall to spring, and our 7s season takes place in the summer. That means there is always rugby to play, and any time is a good time to join our squad.

Our coaches will teach you the basics of rugby through advanced play. Whether you’re new to rugby or an experienced vet, you have a place on our team. No tryouts. There’s no cost to come out and train with us for your first week! We welcome new players!

History
The Lady Quins were founded in the spring of 2012, when Dallas had no Division 1 women’s rugby team. For players in the area who wanted to compete at a higher level, options were limited. In Texas, the Austin Valkyries and Houston sHARCs were the only established D1 sides. A group of local players decided it was time for Dallas to join them.
That founding group included Molly Whitman, Rea Whitman, Brandy Stigler, Penni Nelson, Esther King, Galia Rebhun, Melani Massey, Kathryn Eckel, Jill Pullen Howard, Jacey Cardwell, Jessica Mendoza, and Sarah Hoffman. Many of them were already playing locally and looking for an opportunity to build something more competitive.
Through longtime Quin legend John Dale, who had refereed some of their matches, the group became more familiar with the Dallas Harlequins. The timing proved perfect. The Harlequins had long considered forming a women’s side, and when the players approached the club about starting a team, the response was immediate. The Lady Quins were born.
In the early days, John Dale and Michael Engelbrecht helped guide the team as 7s coaches while the club searched for a long-term leader. That leader soon emerged in longtime Quin Eben Groenewald, who stepped in as head coach. Having also served multiple terms as club president, Eben embraced the role as a passion project and dedicated years to developing the women’s program in its formative stages.
During this period, numerous Quins players and Old Boys supported the program and helped shape its growth. Contributors included Gregg Jarvis, Matt Rinker, Scott Littlejohn, Pete Santos, Frank Wambaa, Luisa Malei, and many others who shared their knowledge and experience with the developing side.
Around 2016, Gregg Jarvis took over as head coach, with Paul Riddle serving as assistant coach, continuing to strengthen the program and build competitive depth.
In the years that followed, the Ohmann-Wilson family became deeply involved with the club. Whitney Ohmann-Wilson stepped in as head coach while Madison Ohmann-Wilson emerged as a team leader and captain. Though they’re now starting their own team with Fort Worth RFC – The Wranglers.
Through nearly a decade of steady effort, the Lady Quins worked to establish themselves within the Texas rugby landscape. That progress was challenged during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted rugby communities across the country. Like many teams, the Lady Quins experienced a temporary decline in membership, but the players remained committed to rebuilding the program.
Following the pandemic, the team briefly competed in Division 2 while rebuilding its roster and culture. The work paid off. In 2024, the Lady Quins returned to Division 1 competition and achieved one of the most successful seasons in program history.
The team has also found success in the 7s game. The Lady Quins won the TOLA 7s Championship in 2018 and later qualified for the USA Rugby Club 7s National Championships in both 2024 and 2025. During the 2024 15s season, the team reached the Division 2 Super Regionals, narrowly losing a hard-fought match to the Knoxville Minx.
A new chapter of leadership began in 2023 when Cortney Paschal stepped in as head coach while recovering from an ACL injury. Paschal brought elite experience to the role, having represented USA Rugby and having won the inaugural Premier Rugby Sevens tournament with the Loonies. Her leadership helped rebuild the team’s competitive mindset and set the stage for its return to Division 1.
When Paschal returned to the field as a player, Jinnie “JP” Pratt stepped in as head coach, bringing her elite rugby experience and a background in sports management and analytics. Last 15s season, JP and Cortney, led a newly rebuilt team to a positive year, setting the foundation for future growth!
Today, midway through our 7s season, Mary Waller is at the helm, with Cortney still slicing and dicing players on the pitch!
From a small group of determined players in 2012 to a competitive Division 1 program more than a decade later, the Quin Womxn represent the continued growth of women’s rugby in Dallas and the enduring spirit of the Harlequins club.
