Head coach, Michael Engelbrecht, is taking the Dallas Harlequins to the next level with training focused on individual player development and team dynamics.

The Quins have Division 1 and Division 3 squads, so whether you are new to rugby or an experienced vet, you have a place in our club. No tryouts needed. Come out to training and see what you can do.
During the summer, we also compete in the Premier and Open divisions for 7s.

History
The team was born in 1971 when local legend Nelson Spencer decided Dallas needed more rugby. Nelson had been playing for our local rival, The Dallas Rugby Club (colloquially known as the Reds). Every game they played was a trek, so he decided that Dallas had room for two teams, to allow for more convenient rugby! After talking with Reds, he promised to start completely from scratch, without taking players from the current roster, and put an ad into the local paper, with the popular (but maybe a little crass) saying “it takes leather balls to play rugby” … it was so surprising to the average viewer that it was picked up by radio stations, and for their first practice they ended up with over 20+ players showing up! Including a traveling carpenter and a pivotal member of the club, Stafford Turner. Once they realized they could sustain a new team, they sent a letter to Gail Tennant, head of the union, to put in for a bid. The two men (along with some other friends, like Terry Dalton) continued recruiting wherever they could, including the bar!
The Quin men quickly became the preeminent team in the region, with players coming from all over the world to play in the green and black!
On top of countless regional and local championships, the Quins won the national title in 1984, led by South African legend, Naas Botha.
Due to Nelson’s travels and connections with ruggers around the globe, we were also able to become Official Affiliates of the London Harlequins.
Since then, we have also helped pioneer the American SuperLeague and have continued to play a high-quality brand of rugby.
We were also official affiliates of and a major feeder for the short-lived Major League Rugby team, the Dallas Jackals.
We’ve played and toured against countless international sides from various countries, most recently against Marlow RUFC out of the UK.
We also went to 7’s Nationals in 2025.
We compete at the highest amateur level in America, and have helped to create countless professional and internationally-capped players.
Even more importantly, we’ve worked to build good citizens, friends, and partners!
