Youth Rugby

Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Celina, and Prosper area parents! We welcome you to join our fast-growing and competitive youth rugby club. Our players are multi-sport athletes competing at all levels of football, soccer, baseball, martial arts, wrestling, and hockey.  We offer rugby for boys and girls, ages 6 to 14. Coach Josh Cash, can also connect you with a high school side for boys aged 14-18.

High Performance Pathways

One of the things that really sets our club apart is the opportunities our players can tap into through real, local rugby networks.

We’re connected with Gorilla Rugby Academy, a club built to give U14–U23 players pathways to compete in higher-level tournaments and travel opportunities while developing strong fundamentals and competitive skills. Gorilla’s focus on honest assessment, character, and on-field growth means kids who are ready to push themselves can find challenging, rewarding experiences beyond our regular season.

We’re also newly connected with Eagle Impact Rugby Academy (EIRA), with Josh Cash helping to coach their Texas side.

We’re also linked with Dallas Select Recruits (DSR) — a North Texas-based youth sports organization that blends athletic development with mentorship and life skills. DSR runs clinics and also competes in matches. DSR has a structured approach to helping athletes grow within their home clubs, building both rugby ability and personal leadership.

What’s extra cool is that these connections aren’t just names on a page — they’re lived by people in our community. Coach Josh Cash, our youth head coach, also coaches with the Gorillas and EIRA, helping bridge the leap from club rugby to those high-performance environments. And Daniel Abdiyah of DSR — who plays with our Senior side and sponsors the youth team — brings that next-level perspective to DSR’s work with our athletes.

Together, these partnerships give our players more than just weekend matches: they offer exposure to elite competition, mentorship, and clear next steps if they want to take their rugby — and themselves — to the next level.

History

The Quins have had various youth outfits over our tenure in the DFW, with countless amazing coaches and players coming through. For many years, we were associated with Richardson High School, winning the Texas State Championships in 2014 and 2018.

We’ve seen the value of youth rugby, not only in growing the depth of the Quins, but also in growing rugby as a whole.

The youth are the future. That much is always true.

A few years ago, head coach Josh Cash reached out to us about supporting his Celina Youth Rugby team.

After a few hard years, the Quins were ready to reinvest in the future and jumped at the opportunity to support Youth Rugby.

In his first year as coach, he led the U8, U10, and U12 teams to an undefeated season.

Josh also helps coach Celina’s High School rugby team, giving kids a rugby pathway from 6-18 and beyond. They just won the 2026 Texas State Championship.

Why Youth Rugby, Over Other Sports?

Rugby is a fast-paced, physical game that teaches kids how to move, think, and compete the right way. Players learn proper tackle technique, build real endurance, sharpen hand-eye coordination, and develop all-around athleticism — skills that translate to almost any sport, especially football.

But rugby is about more than what happens on the field. It naturally builds teamwork, accountability, discipline, and mental toughness. Every player has a role, every teammate matters, and respect for coaches, opponents, and referees is baked into the culture. Kids learn how to push themselves, support others, and bounce back from challenges — all while having a ton of fun.

Rugby also encourages well-rounded athletic development. Because the game requires running, passing, tackling, and decision-making from every position, it helps prevent the overuse injuries that often come with early sport specialization. And while it may seem counterintuitive, playing without pads actually promotes safer tackling — athletes are taught to use proper form, controlled contact, and body awareness from day one.

At the end of the day, youth rugby builds confident, resilient athletes and great teammates — and it does it in an environment that’s energetic, supportive, and (most importantly) fun.
